"I will be home all night, so give me a call."
I heard his voice for the first time in what feels like a long while. I didn't quite recognize his voice, as he just doesn't sound the same to me as he used to.
Why, of course. He was a different person to me then.
I wrote him and basically told him to never call again. One day, he just will not exist in my life anymore.

And just to share with those who care, this was my reply:
"I just received your message. 503-515-9583 is no longer my phone, but my parents' instead (for whatever reason, I just happened to look at it today - that's when I got your message). I know you don't really call anyway - but just in case - please don't call that number anymore. Just send me a message on here, and I will get it.
I'm sorry about the inconvenience with the junk that comes through the mail. I have already changed my address. I don't really know what else I can do about that, unless you have a better suggestion. With the ballot, if you don't mind sending it to me, that would be great. If not, please just give it to Del; he'll give it to me the next time I see him.
I hope you received the knives I sent you and hope that they arrived unscathed. Also, I figured that you are probably the one who put the TV remote controller by my parents' front door. Thank you. If you find anything else around the house that belongs to me, just toss it. I doubt that it will be anything terribly important, so it'll either save you the trip or some postage.
I appreciate the favor.
Hope all is well. "
