Little Yellow House Journey
I have a little fantasy.
I live in a little yellow (and environmentally sound) house with grid window panes. It's got an unimposing roof with wood-colored shingles. It's got a green lawn with friendly white daisies growing around it ... and garden knomes and rabbit decors with a bird bath out front. A tree (cherry blossom, if possible) stands next to front lawn. Down the middle of the lawn is a terracotta brick pathway leading to the front porch and door.
Through the front door, we enter the house with honey-colored hardwood floors (cork or bamboo). As you see, it's a one-story little house of about 1800 sq feet or less. The first to greet is the living room against a large window letting in sunlight. In front of the fireplace is a glorious light grey long-threaded rug tickle my feet. The color scheme here is red, black and white, since the walls are white. Red fabric couch mixed with black pinstriped love seat. White "shabby chic" coffee table in the middle. A decorative simple black chandelier hangs from above. Specialty lamps in the corners. Walls lined with bookshelves, a wooden TV stand has a large computer screen on it (something like an Apple), since I don't watch much TV, it has basic cable, and I watch Netflics on it. The window curtains are white with happy "shabby chic" floral patterns that are yellow -- the only yellow in the room, perhaps. There are plants and candles and framed art -- yes, I'll be taking pictures and actually trying my hand at painting again. And let's not forget my kitty cats (Christian the Lion and Luna the Lady) are nestled in a comfy throw, while my big dog (Luca the Brave) is resting on the floor somewhere.
Next to the living room is a set of French doors, leading to the backyard. By the green back lawn, there is a vegetable garden and a flower bed. Next to them and the doors is a patio with a wooden, vine-wrapped veranda dotted with yellow French horn shaped flowers. On that patio is my cute little 3-speed cruiser bike with a coated wicker basket in front. Hey, who knows? By that time, maybe I'll have picked up biking that I'll have a mountain bike sitting in the garage along with my Subaru Outback Wagon or Honda 4WD Element or some other energy efficient vehicle.
Next to the French door is a pet door (leading to the backyard), then the kitchen. The transition between the living room and the kitchen is divided by a sheer white curtain. Color scheme of the kitchen is white, pale green and the honey color of natural wood. There will be plants, like basil and other herbs, sitting in front of the kitchen window. The dining area will be in front of the French doors. The dining table will be round and of natural wood color, while the chairs will be white with detachable floral cushions. Dishes will have patterns, no matter how girlie that may seem ... something a bit modern in flavor, but definitely feminine. Of course, there is also a separate set of Asian themed dining ware. Glasses are glasses, unless they are mugs. Wine glasses, water glasses ... all have unique patterns. Cookware is stainless steel and enamel cast iron of the same green. Oh, and did I mention hardwood floors? So definitely a kitchen rug or two. On the side of the kitchen is a door that leads first, to the laundry room, which will have a set of energy efficient washer and dryer stacked up on top of each other (a stool will be needed). The laundry room will also have a sink, plus enough room for the doggy and kitty food/water bowls.
Back into the house and down the hallway, we see that door knobs are silver, except for the front door, which is copper. There are pictures and art on the walls and a wall candle holder.
This hallway leads to three doors. One to my bedroom, the second to my office, and the third to the bathroom.
Master bedroom is a sea green or luscious purple and black/dark brown combination, with interchangeable bedding colors. My queen bed will have a black wrought iron "manger" headboard with simple but elegant curves. There will be a skirt for the bed frame, I insist. And the bedding will be either a shiny straw green, pale blue and brown (ethereal colors), or a beige and orange combo. Bedroom will be carpeted.
Attached is a personal bathroom -- my bathroom. This will be the "zen" colors, with pale green, white and light wood colors ... a bit of a spa theme. Light brown, green, blue towels with some white. Again, silver utility handles. Two-setting toilet. Glass, mosaic mirrors. A plant of lavender.
My office will not be carpeted, but has a rug. Walls will be lined with bookcases, light blue and white scheme. Desk will be solid, kind of southern country looking, with drawers and such. Healthy desk chair, also a lounge sofa that seconds as a futon for guests.
Secondary bathroom will be southern country, shabby chic style. Glass and mirrors. White white white ... with some pinks. Don't forget baskets.
So, this will be my little home.
(kinda like the bottom one)
