Send Off (to be continued ...)

At my graduation, my professor sent us off with something along the lines of the following:

"… As you go out into the world to gather seeds along the way, take a moment to pause and reflect and take a picture of these trees you've grown and send us a postcard."

That was probably one of the most touching moments I've had in my life. I will never ever ever forget how the hairs on my body stood up not just because of the beautiful words and the soothing voice in which he spoke them, but because of the fact that someone – and he's not just anyone; he's my teacher – believes that I will make a difference.

Here's What I Think

To conserve trees, we should all wipe our hands on our pants.

To raise our self-esteem, we should remember that smart people will be out-bred in 500 years.

To stay optimistic, we should stop reading the newspapers.

To be surprised, we should not try at all.

To stay out of harm's way, we should travel around the world with Google Map.

To understand human relations, we should watch soap operas -- then remember the opposite.

To grow happy, healthy plants, tell them they are beautiful.

To attract attention, look away from the source of attention.

To create good writing, write about nothing.
